Forgive
me if I sound patronising, but the truth is that "at your age" your
body is going through enormous changes, including chemical/hormonal
ones. These play games with your emotions, making you feel "normal"
one minute, and suicidal the next. It is easier to cope with if
you realise that it is much more common than you think. You are
not alone. Perhaps some of your friends are experiencing exactly
the same thing and - like you - are only pretending to be happy.
It
is very important to talk to your friends about this, or tell someone
else who is sympathetic. This will definitely make you feel better.
It's
also normal to feel a bit depressed for the few days before you
menstruate each month. There are simple ways of relieving this pre-menstrual
tension (PMT).

-
Make
a group list of things you can do to help someone who
is depressed.
-
Tell
your group about any times you've felt depressed or confused
for no reason. Encourage the others to tell you next time
they feel like this.
-
If
you do sport less than three times a week, arrange with
your friends to do something you enjoy - even just running.
