- Study
and practice how to use every part of the website so that you
can explain to anyone who needs help.
- Stress
that you are available as a source of information - but only when
the teenagers ask for it.
-
DON'T listen in to discussions or give your own opinions.
-
DON'T gossip about anything you find out or are told.
-
Find out as much as possible about local organisations, new websites,
print and video and other material that can help them with difficult
issues.
-
Make sure that the atmosphere of the sessions is as informal as
possible, so students feel free to talk.
-
Remind the group that everyone's ideas should be respected.
-
Remind the group that anything they are told by others is confidential.
-
Make sure that nobody is mocked or ridiculed - observe their faces
and body language discreetly.
-
Check the bulletin board yourself - tell the group what you've
found and encourage them to use it.
-
Encourage the group to ask you for help - be non-judgmental and
supportive when this happens.
-
Fill in the feedback form and let us know how we can make the
website more relevant for your situation.
