Research evidence to support equitable Health Systems

TARSC has co-ordinated research, policy analysis and dialogue with institutions in southern African for EQUINET . Within EQUINET we have finalised a report led by Centre for Health Policy South Africa for the Knowledge Network on Health Systems for the WHO Commission on the Social Determinants of Health. For further information on our work on health equity please email us at admin@tarsc.org.

Medical aid societies (MAS) in Zimbabwe cover a tenth of the population, and about 80% of income to private health care providers in Zimbabwe comes from MAS. They contribute more than 20% of the country's total health expenditure. Recent research by TARSC has examined the flows of private capital that lie behind the growth of the profit medical aid and insurance health care sector in Zimbabwe. The report is on the website.
