Features of such a contract include:

  • shared visions, goals and expectations;
  • agreed outcomes, their timing and their measurement;
  • agreed inputs and their source;
  • agreed roles and relationships;
  • mechanisms for joint decision-making;
  • a way of dealing with differences constructively;
  • acceptance that the collaboration is a developing and changing process, and mechanisms for reviewing it (Kahssay & Baum, 1996).
