The notion of civil society
seems to conjure contradictory images in the minds of health
workers.
Some might envisage complementary
interactions with community social groups that bring people and
health services closer together. Others see risky work with radical
movements that confront the state trhough demonstrations and
strikes.
The fear of this latter possibility
can make people avoid all work with civil society.
How
can health workers build a more positive relationship with civil
society, and between civil society and the state, in order to
meet health goals? |
